Our Principles

  • Taking a client-centred approach – focusing on what clients are able to do, rather than on what they can no longer do.
  • Enablement – supporting people to be more independent at home and in the community, thereby enhancing their quality of life.
  • ‘Prevention is better than cure”
  • Confidentiality – Be discreet. It is against the law to divulge other people’s business. Every staff member holds a position of trust and is expected to maintain confidentiality.
  • Be sensitive – to beliefs, cultures and family.
  • Communicating respectfully – treat clients with respect, dignity and concern for their rights, freedoms and individual needs.
  • Be considerate and understanding.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries – it’s about caring without over-caring.
  • Always work within relevant guidelines – follow policy and procedure as stipulated by A.P. Care Services and the care provider. This includes, but is not limited to; Standards, Acts, policies, procedures and A.P. Care’s Services Code of Conduct.
  • Always be mindful of personal safety – ensure that tasks are performed safely and without detriment to yourself, colleagues, clients and the community.

As part of our ongoing care for our clients we promise to:

  • Inform and consult you about the care that’s most appropriate for your needs.
  • Provide services that take into account your lifestyle, cultural and religious beliefs and preferences.
  • Treat you with the utmost respect and dignity.
  • Respect your privacy and confidentiality.
  • Only access agreed personal information that we have for you on file.
  • Respect your wish to withdraw that access at any time.
  • Respond in a fair and equitable way, should you have any complaints
  • Facilitate you should you wish to have a representative speak on your behalf (including an interpreter should English not be your first language – these costs would be incurred by you, the client)
  • Respect your decision to terminate or refuse services offered without any implications.
  • Respect your right to appeal any decisions around your service provided.

Your Promise

Respect and care is a two way street, we request that as a client of A.P. Care Services you will:

  • Treat all A.P. Care Services team members with respect and courtesy.
  • Talk to us, let us know if your circumstances change in a way that will affect your services.
  • Keep us informed if you are going away and/or want to cease services.
  • Help us help you, please coordinate with our Carers to help them provide you with the necessary care you require and take responsibility for your decisions.
  • Please give us a minimum of 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel or change a service, if not a cancellation fee will apply.
