Letchumy has acted as a carer for my son Matthew for over 13 years, from 7 years of age to his present 20 years of age.
Matthew is non verbal and non ambulant. Letchumy has cared for Matthew for between 4-5 days per week over this period of time.
Her role is primarily to bathe and dress Matthew, and also take him off the bus on his return from dayprogram.
Letchumy has a very caring and friendly disposition. It is truly one of the highlights of Matthew’s day to spend the two hours with her, on the days she comes to our house.
Letchumy talks, sings and entertains him, and Matthew regularly responds with his own verbalisations and laughter. They have formed a truly wonderful connection and relationship, which they both enjoy. Further to this, Letchumy is entrusted with accessing the house on days when I am away at work.
She is the most trustworthy, genuine and caring person anyone could ever hope to meet. In her time working with Matthew she has become truly one of my family’s most beloved people, and we will truly miss our daily interactions, and hope we are able to continue this relationship into the future.
